I grabbed a few petsmart rt to see if I could find a female. Two were obvious males I gave away. The last two I'm not sure. One has a dorsal blotch. What's the chances of it being female?

Post some pics, u got lucky usually the odds of getting one female out of 8 fish is about 60% when just ordering one type of fish from what i was told by someone who use to order fish constantly he one with a dorsal spot on might very well be female

When it comes to Red Texas cichlids, a dorsal blotch means nothing, both male, and female look the same. The best way to tell the difference would be by venting. I scored a female on my first RT from petsmart, and now I got a male who's coloring up nicely with bright red to the body.

yeah that dorsal spot. That is a female.
