I just bought some microworms at a auction. I have done some research but not much. I asked the guy who I bought them from. How should I keep them and raise them he said:

get whole oat meal add water till its mushy.

add yeast on top

add worms

take some out after a week or so and make a new colonies feed the rest

also keep multiple colonies going for when they crash

The container would be a tupperware with a whole in the lid about the size of a nickel. Which would have a sponge in it to keep fruit flies out and moisture in.

(YES) that's correct.

In the Tupperware Container you want to add Baby Cereal(Oatmeal) or Powdered Mash Potatoes only one, not both.
Then you want to add a little water & stir it up. You don't want it too thick or runny, so make it a little pasty. When you have this ready you add your microworms & place the lid with the hole covered with a sponge. In about a week you can see the worms start crawling up the sides of the tupperware & you can run your finger along the sides of the container to collect & feed your babies.

You can use this batch to start colonizing many other containers as you need. You just have to keep an eye on them because they can spoil if not taken care of properly. But when that happens you'll know because the smell is horrendous.

Good luck with these ... you should be O.k. they're not very hard to take care of

You're welcome for the info...
I'm glad you like my avatar, but it's there because I like it regardless what others think.

I like to raise microworms in a clear plastic glass. I add about a 1/2" to 3/4" of oatmeal, a pinch of yeast, some sugar and enough water to make a moist mixture. I then add some microworms. I then cover the cup with a plastic wrap held on with a rubber band. Take a toothpick and make a few airholes in the plastic. Keep at room temperature. I find adding sugar to the culture feeds the yeast, keeps down the smell, and makes the culture last much longer (3 weeks +). With the clear plastic cup, you can see the microworms crawling up the glass. After about 3 weeks make a new culture.
