Hello, so I'm finally nearing the date when I'll be able to set up the 2 55 gallon tanks that are currently resting on the double stand I have for them. The area that they will be placed is going to be on carpet, no ways around it.
I believe I have come up with a solution to it though. I plan to buy a 6 by 4 board and do a coating of water proof whatever it is so that if any water spills it'll easily be able to be wiped off. The board will play another part too, by being longer and wider then the tank it'll provide a greater area for the tank to rest on thus spreading out the weight, am I correct on that?

My main question is do yall see any problems with a double 55 gallon sitting on it? I can get pictures if you want.

How thick is the board that's going to be used? Personally would use 3/4 ply wood but would make sure there are no imperfections.

I was planning on making it an inch, possibly an inch and a half since it would half around half a ton resting on it.

The key I would think is to make sure it spans across several of the floor joist. That way the weight gets spread out better, than just one holding it up.20180801_112913.jpg
Green is good Red ba

Goibg across, say your tank weighs 900lbs, each joist hold up 300, instead of all the weight by itself.

I'll have to go up under the house to check out which way they run. I'll post a pic

Great advice

I checked and they do run that way. Sorry I couldn't get a pic but I was pressed up against the ceiling basically and couldn't get a picture.

Well I'm soaked, have spider webs all over me which is worse because I'm terrified of spiders, my shoes are soaked yet at the same time covered in mud, my clothes are also wet and muddy, and I hit my head when I ran away from a big spider.
On the bright side I now know I didn't do all of that planning for nothing and know I can go through with it so I guess that makes it all worth it.

This 125 is in the same place, waiting to be set-up, maybe this weekend if the sand shows up. The filter has been running on my Oscar's tank so should be ready to go.
