Just picked up a 120 gallon and hopped on aquatraders and saw that their 48" doublebright LEDs are down to $109.99. I run singlebrights on my 360.

Just wanted to know if they promote algae growth. I had t5s in the past and those things caused algae to grow like weeds

One of my friends answered this question. New question: on aquatraders there's these new green element LEDs. There are fewer of them in a fixture and they each use up 3 watts/led vs the beamworks 1 watt/led. Anyone know which is better?

DBs are nice, but their lights tend to be more natural tone, which may appear green/yellowish not the bluish color tone some people come to expect with their lights. I have some decent effect combining DB with some blue acinic spot light.

The biggest flaw I see is the lack of a separate power connection for the blue moon LEDs, which makes my timers useless; and I can't set my moon lights to be off after my bed time.

I have marineland double bright and they are plenty bright for my 65... So far it does not promote algea growth.. Light is on total of about 10 hours..

My beamswork on my 120 is reef capable and its plenty bright. Its only 36". Doesnt promote algea growth either. Pic is of my beamswork.

Thanks for the input guys, leaning towards the 109.99 48" beamworks double bright LED. Anyone try out the Green Element LEDs that aquatraders is also selling?
