Hey MFK

i actully posted this on sticky but no one seems to be replying.

These are the 2 silicone i can find at my local hardware store like just outside my house. The shop keeper was telling ill be able to use the "All porpose" one. Ill be using it on my new DIY 269 GAL playwood with an Acrylic front tank. Will it work out?

Cheers! View attachment 702356

i've read the wacker silicone is supposed to be incredibly strong, but make sure there are no mildew resistant chemicals added and its not paintable

What are you going to seal the tank with? I would suggest gettng 1 tube of each and try it before you start the build.

As mentioned by GTi_Leo, as long as it doesn't contain mildew resistant chemicals and 100% silicone it should be fine.

You are going to need to take a closer look at the labels on each of the silicones to see which one might work. You are looking for words and or phrases like not for underwater use, not for underwater applications, mildew resistant. You need to look for anything on the label that indicates that the silicone cannot be used underwater or in an aquarium or anything that indicates that the silicone has a mold or mildew inhibitor in it. Keep in mind that some of the silicones that are out there have "not for use on an aquarium" on the label for liability reasons. Once you select one, do some testing to see if it will hold up underwater before using it on your project.

Thanks for that advise! ill go read it a bit more. just want to ask. will the color of the silicone matter? like will the black one be stronger than the white?
