Double eared red breasted sunfish

The other day i was catching panfish trying for a nice specimen for my tank and i caught a double eared red ear sunfish! It had two opurcular flaps or spots on both sides. it was crazy, i did not have a cam, but ill try to catch him off of his nest again. has anyone ever heard of this?

yea... pollution. Back before they cleaned the charles river here in Boston, it was not uncommon to catch fish with 3+ eyes. (I mean REAL eyes.. not eyespots)

Oh come on! With regularity you caught three eyed fish? I think you might be drinking from the nuclear cooling pond there blinky
