Picked up a approx. 450gal, it has double 5/8"glass,even the bottom, heavy! Do you think this is necessary, seems like overkill. My thought is to maybe disassemble and have two 450's. I don't need another 450gal. Or should I just let it go, leave it together and just enjoy it? I've taken tanks apart for years, so thats not a problem. Just let me know what you think.

Its like that for a reason

I would not dissemble that tank. Leave as designed.

I agree with the others unless it was homemade and the person was just trying to be extra cautious then it like that for a reason.

Sorry for being an ignoramus, but what is "double paned"? BTW, nice pick up!!!!

I had a 300 that had a double paned bottom. Old school Glass Cages tank. It was a good thing, too, because the movers broke the bottom pane. But since there was still a 3/4" thick perfect pane in place on the bottom plus the Eurobrace, it was still fine.

It weighed 800 pounds. So no offense, but I call BS on your claim that you picked up the double-paned 388. If you did, I'd like to have what you're having for breakfast. :)

Thanks! I'm no longer an ignoramus since now I know everything!

Hey, keep up posted on the progress.
