Is it possible to build a reliable double wooden stand for a 72" x 24" x 18" 125 gallon stand or a 48" x 24" x 24" 120 gallon? Or would there be two much stress without a center support from the ground?

Most tanks need to be supported around their entire perimeter, some must be supported completely from underneath. What are you proposing ?

Basically just like the double 55 metal stands where you have a tank on top and underneath but built with wood. The corners would be built beefy and the top would have cross supports and if necessary a flat piece of plywood across the top like a table. But no center posts from the ground to the top level as it would block the bottom level from fitting the bottom tank.

If you are talking about standard aquariums with plastic trim, then yes, this can be done. Many members have done just that. I have even seen examples where 125 were simply supported by cinder blocks at the ends of the tank.

Does anyone have a picture of something like this? Thanks!
