I'm attempting to stack two sets of 75 gal tanks, last night I got the stand for one of them built and to be honest I'm not crazy about it. With my basement as unlevel as it is I'm going to have a hard time leveling it all and making it flat.

So I'm curious if anyone has done a cinderblock stand two tanks high? From what I understand the blocks are strong enough, but I'd like to see some first hand experience with it. For 75 gal tanks I'd need two stack on each side. I'd double up some 2x4s on end so they dont fall and slide them through the openings.

Bottom tank would be about 10" off the ground, top tank would start at about 40" high. Am I crazy for considering this? Is it stable?

Cinderblocks are extremely fragile, if your surface isn't completely level I wouldn't risk it, they may crack under an uneven load.

Ahh, that is something I didn't know. Seems risky that so many people with huge tanks use them as stands in that case. Well maybe I'll have to go back to the wood plan

Depends on how uneven the floor is, if you have to put any sort of wedge or anything under them to make them even then you could have issues.
