I am at an impasse. I need to make a choice on whether to keep a mating pair of Dovi's or get rid of my Amphilophus Hogaboomorums (6) that look really good and something you do not see around often. The Hogs are currently in my 200 gal tank which I would like to keep just Vieja. The Dovi's look great and spawn every chance they get. My only other option would be to get another tank which I really did not want to do and at this point I am not considering an option.

Well you will need a bigger tank for the dovii but thats obvious. I would keep the hogs they are so cool. if you want a big cichlid get a umbee they are a far better choice

Well a mating pair of Dovi's are fine in a 150 gallon. That is not my issue. My issue is that I am not considering buying another tank and I want the Hogs out of the 200 gal. But I also do not want to part with anything. So hopefully this question will help answer my only viable option at this time. Also what make it difficult is that the male Dovi is impressive.

Not sure how the dovii will be ok in a 150 but they should be fine in it until about 15-16 inches. AS far as the hogs go take them out so you have your veja tank and decide if they would be ok in you 180 jag tank. If not then your gonna have to get another tank or sell the hogs. Its very hard to figure out what to do and sell fish you like

Aquamonster so you do like the hogs better and they would be your choice?

I love the hogs... I was gonna breed them but i went with grammodes. The dovii are cool but i like the umbee better. I think you will enjoy a breeding pair of hogs and the 150 would be nice for them or the 180. Good luck with the decision keep us posted

Thanks. One problem that has always been a problem with the male dovi is that other than the female I can not put anything else in the tank including plecos or catfish.

well thats the thing with those guys. Hopefully someone else will chime in and help ya out somemore
