I have a 6 inch dovii, housed in a 75 gallon who hardly eats. All water seems good no ammonia, nitrite, 20 ppm nitrate, and 7.5 ph. He seems pretty healthy except i see him scratch very seldomly but on occasion. He will kill any fish I put in with him so I know hes in decent shape. He will only take maybe 3 hikari pellets a day and maybe a little bit of mysis. I figure he must have internal parasites, so i treated with praziquantel, with not much success but I did see some dead worms floating in the tank. I keep the temperature at around 84 to keep down stress and parasites. I also use aquarium salt to keep the stress down. When i put food in he comes out like he wants to eat, but usually will ignore it. I just cant understand whats causing him to scratch. I have all also treated with copper with no results. There are 0 signs of external parasites but I still think he may have something. Any advice?

He has a fairly sunken in belly, but I noticed online a lot of male doviis have similair bellies even being healthy.

Btw I have also tried almost any foods I can think of from dried to frozen to live.

well i would try some garlic extract it smells...and it makes the fish wanna eat it..and when he does eat it if he has any parasites it should kill them...or try eartworms

Just be patient and continue doing what you have been, some dovii's can be especially picky and sometimes downright irritating, but time will tell :) good luck!

make sure he has plenty of hiding spaces.....should help alot if he doesnt already....ime:popcorn:

ps...all my fish flash ( scratch) so it can be nothing...but keep your eyes open.......

He has two good hiding spots but I think I will add another. I added an airstone today, figuring with the temperature at 84 there may not be enough oxygen in the water. Since Ive added it he seems more active but hasnt affected his appetite yet.

He does eat cichlid gold, but sparingly. I have tried a lot of foods but have yet to try prawns, and actualy havent tried bloodworms. Il give those a try.
