Hi,

Ive had a pair off 5-6inch dovii now for 5 weeks. The problem is feeding. I have tried them on all sorts of foods, Krill, nightcrawlers, bloodworms, cichlid sticks, shrimps etc. But they never seem that interested in anything. They do eat but not a lot , and they never attack there food or beg for food like over cichlids do. Is it just a stage they are going through? Any ideas or help gratley appreaceated

Odd, sounds to me like they're stressing out about something. They should be well acclimated and eating like pigs at this point. Are they swimming around with clamped fins? About the only thing I can think of is to check temperature and water quality.

hmm that is kinda odd..is there anything in the tank that may be streessing them out...like a bigger fish or something..even though they should be able to take on fish much larger t hen them...see if the heater is cracked they might be getting electricuted....or maybe there is too much activity in the room..they are in...

No they are in a tank on there own. Everything is working fine. And there isnt a great deal of activity near the tank to stress them

My wild male is the same way.....They are intelligent and sometimes shy fish. The one food i find he gos crazy for is beef heart you may want to try that if you haven't already

Congrats on the eggs.............lucky!

my male dovii acts the same way I just try to feed it a lot more often and it may seem kind of odd but the one food he really loves is cichlid flakes and freeze dried shrimp

Beautiful pictures -- zHope they're eating better by now and hope the eggs are doing well
