dovii behaviour

I have a 4 inch dovii and he is a bit cautious and skittish. when i approach the tank. If he is hungry he is all up in front of the tank. As soon as he eats he tends to keep away from me.

I never had a dovii so I am concered he will always be a skittish fish.

Thats not to fun to have . But everyone seems to love them so will he turn out like a Midas type fish or a hider??

Is he alone? Maybe his personality would come out more with a tankmate. Either way mine was skittish for a bit but when she packed on some weight and length she relaxed. A lot.

A lot of parachromis species tend to be a bit shy when younger.

Should start coming around about 6-8" and then by 12" he will be a full blown Dovii. They take a while and a lot of patients but it's worth it.

Just wondering if doviis regrow their teeth?? Mine is about 8inches and has lost his protruding teeth in battles ... I'm hoping they'll grow back

Man you got a rough bunch in there. That's probably a fun tank to watch. I agree your patience will pay off.

Remember, unlike other cichlids doviis get huge. So at that size it is still a baby.
