My 5-6 in. Costa Rican Dovii is attempting to breed again, and I'm pretty sure the 10 in. Jack Dempsey in my tank is the suitor. My only question is whether these two fish can successfully produce fry. Any science folks out there have the answer? Besides these two fish there is only a 7 in. Largemouth in the tank and it's pretty clear to see that he is the third wheel. Both fish have been acting very weird recently, the Dempsey has been shaking and fighting with the bass, while the Dovii has been digging out areas and, as I said, laying some eggs. I wasn't exactly planning for this but I cant help but be intrigued by what may come, and from what I can tell besides the Genus and Species the fish are exactly related. Any ideas would be appreciated.
