Are most Dovii seen in aquatic store captive farmed or wild caught, I assume many central americans are now captive farmed but am not sure?

From what I heard and noticed around my area is LFS get them from private sellers and not wholesale retailers which are the fish farms. The private sellers get them from collecting trips and then sell the offspring to the LFS. I was just recently talking to a guy at a LFS and he said that he can't get them from the fish farms or the wholesalers. He got his because he had a breeding pair himself from a collecting trip and put the offspring in his store tanks.

My guess is that dovii are not "farmed" (mass produced in Southeast Asian fish farms) but are not wild caught either. They're not a very commonly sold fish, so that's why I don't think they're farmed, but a pair lays about 1,000 eggs at a time and I've heard they're pretty easy to breed, so they can't all be wild caught.

Most are captive bred/farmed.

Most cichlids ARE home bred by private sellers/individuals

Yeah most of them are farmed raised, there not the hardest fish to breed...
