cichlid city
Is it normal for a female dovii,to get a blue coloring on her fins,It looks real nice.MInre is finally overcoming shyness.I think cichlid gold is bringing out her colors.:headbang2 :D

she rarley accpts the cichlid gold tho but she loves beefheart and earthworms. Is beefheart a good staple diet for them.

it is normal to get the blue coloration you are seeing on your dovii, depending on the local ( if wc) it may get different coloration. and beefheart should not be a staple, pellets can be a staple, but beefheart should only be a snack.

I thought they were carnivorus:confused:

this is true... but i don't believe beefheart would ever be in their diet in wild. i once also thought this was common practice to feed beefheart on everyday basis. however i lost several growing cichlids due to a intestines bloat or whever they call it. and now i don't feed it to any of mine anymore. period! i don't care to hear about success stories with it. there is way better quality food out there. have you tried krill? frozen or dried? i've had very nice success with SFBay freezedried. for all my carnivorus fish. and its relativly not expensive.

well just my 2cents on this matter. hope you can get the dovii on something else. :D

They are carnivorous, but I don't recall them eating cows, more specifically their hearts. Just feed her a staple food.. you can try different brands. I recommend the tetra cichlid sticks my midas love it, it has more protein than cichlid gold too so the fish should grow faster.

LOL! That would be awesome... A dovii leaping out of the water, killing a cow, dragging it into the water... :)

Anyway, no beefheart is a quite bad staple. Try frozen mysis shrimp. My CA's love it.
