I just recevied a beautiful wild pair of yellow dovii from Ira. I was wandering what everybody feeds their parachromis especially dovii.
I never kept any kind of Parachromis and would love any tips.
I would highly recommend Ira when it comes to buying cichlids. He is very informative and loves to talk fish, not to mention the pair I received was even better than he said they would be. They both were eating and adapting to my tank within hours of dropping them in. I've only has them 3 days and I think the female is already laying eggs. I've never had a pair of cichlids and can't wait for them to have fry.

Any diet and basic keeping tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys!

My Motas did very well on Hakari Bio-Gold+, Massavore and Omega One Cichlid Pellets and NLS as a staple. I use different pellets for varity, but really any one or two of them is good. I also feed earthworms, Krill and shrimp as a treat.

My Dovii pair have done well with mostly frozen tilapia and some Sinking Hikari Gold. The pellets make a mess though, so they only get a few daily ( I consider them "vitamins"). They eat every bit of that tilapia with no mess.
40% water changes weekly.

Freeze dried Jumbo Krill, Hakari Bio Gold plus, Tetra Cichlid sticks (which I don't recommend for anything but Dovii) and unwanted fry .....

I feed mine mostly worms and massivore delite. The occasional goldfish, rosys and pinkies are treats.

They were $130 for the pair. Both of them are about 6 inches.
The eggs are now wigglers and the female has not really been letting the male in the pot with the eggs. I guess she won't need his help till they start swimming around. This is my first breeding experience with any cichlid so it's kind of a learning experience.

Mine has been doing great on Hakari Bio-Gold+, night crawlers, and small minnows as treats.
