Dovii disappeared ????

My female dovii disappeared. Have no clue to where she went.
They spawned once, looked like the were mating again and now she's
gone. No trace of her anywhere. Would the male kill, then eat her

I'm completely puzzled on this
 
nowhere outside tank either.
and they were acting fine together
no signs of aggression by the male
what so-ever. They wouldn't leave each other side.
 
Unless the female was significantly smaller than the male I doubt that he would eat her without a trace of evidence. You should fine some part of her body if he did kill her, which may be a possibility. You should also check under and behind the tank decorations. If she was chased, the female could have lodged herself in a tight place to get away from the male. Another place to check would be behind your tank. If she jumped out, she could very well be behind your tank. I hope that she is just hiding.
 
A fish that big the male should have a big belly if he ate all of her. As said before you should see at least a part of the poor thing. Not under any deco?

Just saw your stock list. If he kiled her all the fish ate her lol
 
I think most of us have had one of these unexplained vanishings. The fish either shows up lodged behind the tank mumified 6 months later or does the total Amelia Earhart never to be seen again.
 
This happened to my texas cichlid :(
He went missing for a few days, I moved a rock and then his body came floating out :s
 
ive had a green terror disapear and found it months later when i changed out the gravel. it seemed to have been buried. do a gravel clean and see if the males trying to hide the evidence
