Ok so I came home yesterday and my dovii is guarding a flower pot with a small batch of eggs. But I notice this morning that alot off the eggs are turning white. And only one is gaurding the eggs the other dovii the bigger one doesn't seem to care. Is this normal? All the things I have read on here aswell as other informational sites say that both should be guarding the eggs intensively and that they would clean up the eggs as some go bad. I believe the big one is a female cause it doesn't have any characteristics of a male. No real color no long fins. The big one is probably 9-10 inches and the one guarding the eggs is around 3-4 inches. This would be the first batch they have had. There are also a couple convicts in the tank but there is no reall agression to the extent of what I read.

Anyway Im curious is this normal behaviour for some dovii with eggs? Or will this first batch be a practice run?

Thanks in advance.

Oh and the batch is tiny again compared to what I've read. Maybe, maybe 100 eggs.

Any thought or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

the first time mine layed they only fertilized about 10 percent of them. the next time 90 percent were fertilized some take 10 times to get it right. once layed my female dovii will not let my male dovii guard the eggs. she takes care of it while he stays away.
