i posted a thread on this in the CA/SA forum. but thought i would move my questions in here. duh

ok friday i woke up to find that my dovii had laid eggs. the female is reaching the 6inch mark and the male is barely over 3 inches. by today about half of the eggs had turned white, the others are still brown and have formed a dark spot on them. does this mean that they got fertilized or just that they havent died off yet?

as you can tell this is a first time fish spawing experience for me

If they are still brown and have a dark spot, they are most likely fertile. Young males sometimes have trouble aiming and some eggs don't get fertilized. They get better with practice and maturity. Congratulations.

When you see the eggs with the black dot, thats the fry's eyes. After you notice the black dots, the eggs should hatch within 24 hours.

Yep. You might see a 'cloud' of fry. Or tiny little swimming things amounst the gravel, which you can only see from close up.
