**To all you mods out there, idk if this should be here, or in setup and filtration...**

Now to my question: I have a pair of dovii cichlids with wigglers in the tank right now. I plan on moving the fry to a 55 gallon I have laying around once they are free swimming. My question is would an emperor 400 provide too much current for the fry to handle? If so, I could pick up a sponge filter, but I'd like to just be able to throw the emperor I already have on there. Thanks for your help, especially quick help, as I need to place my foster and smith order soon!

I've also got a 130 gph powerhead with a spnge filter attachment if that would work ok...

i would put the babies in there own tank with a sponge filter. Good luck.

I think a 55gal is way to big for fry! Waste a ton of food with to big a tank at 1st! I'd also say forget the sponge filter!!a hob filter will work way better just get a 2$ sponge pre-filter to slip over your intake tube!! Easy cleanup of food or any dead babies ect. Your barebottom fry tank will stay perfectly clean with just a daily rinse of the pre-filter!!
