Dovii Gender ID

Guys can you help me ID the sex of this Dovii. I thought it was male but now im not too sure. 4.5" and growing like a weed. This pic was just after a water change so the colors are washed out. My apoligies for the phone pics.

If I could guess, I would say female due to the rounded caudal fin.

yeah i think you're right. It has a lot of spots though doesn't it? I thought that meant male.

I think it is a male. Pics right after a water change can mske it a little trickier. The spotting looks male.....also you said it has a fast growth rate. The shape of the head is looking like a male also. Within the next 1" or so there will be no doubt with good pics. A good amount of coloring around the mouth is a good sign of a male...also the fins will start to color up real soon if it's a male.

Not the clearest of pics but I'll vote male as it seems to have spotting throughout the unpaired fins.

Like greenterra said, if it has spotting on the unpaired fins, it's a male.

@ Dovii man or anyone else who knows:

What is a yellow dovii? Is that like a Costa Rican or something completely different. Do you have pics of what an adult looks like?
