Thanks for the help.

Males have spotting on body and unpaired fins, and not all females show their yellows. I believe I can see spotting on fins and body but need better pics to be sure, but I'm thinking male

I actually agree on the male ID... I think I can see spotting as well but the fish looks a bit washed out. Well fed lol but a bit drab at the moment. Clearer pics will help, but at the moment I would call it a unisex name like "Jo"

Its a male he's got a big nuchal hump, but what do you guys think as far as quality does he have potential?? (Jason)

I thought females don't color up blue

I thought the question was if it is a Nicaraguan or Costa Rican? Often a early generation Nicaraguan Dovii will show a darker blue with more of a maroon side. Many say the Nics show a greenish blue color as apposed to the blue in the Costa Rican strain. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell even with WC. At this size you can't tell. Also to be 100% sure you would need to know were it was collected or the history to say. I have seen great looking strain of both and not so good looking specimens as far as color goes. A great looking Nic is impressive but so is a great looking Cosat Rican. I have also read the Nics will have a thicker bulkier build due to there environment, lakes and slow moving waters as compared to the Rican collected from streams and rivers. They are more stream line but both are monsters when they mature. Also this is for the males....females are pretty easy to tell the difference. Female Costa Ricans are a very nice bright yellow. The Nic females are more of a tan color but show good green/blues in spots. Just to add I have seen very nice WC nics on here that look like CR......? I think it has a lot to due with the actual collection point more so then the country it was collected.
