DOVII JUST LAYED EGGS THIS MORNING BUT IS NOT FANNING!

My female just layed this morning but she is up in the corner of the tank doing nothing, she has a hole in the divider to escape if she want but she just hangs out at the top and she is a little beat up. The male is guarding the eggs and seems to fan a little and he will go up to give a good bite to the female every 5 or 10 min. Like to say "Hey you got eggs down there get on it woman" lol

Is it possible the male has taken over the eggs? This is there second spawn the first time she ate the eggs after they turned white, Im wondering why she is not fanning them her self?

if they turn white, they werent fertilized by the male. how old is your male? my male and female managuense both fan and guard there eggs. my dovii male will cruise the tank eating and the female will not leave her eggs for more than 5 seconds. she tends the entire time until the fry start to shake then she moves them to a nice hole in the side of a rock. there she will stand guard until free swimming

Is this thier first spawn mine did the same thing their first spawn that is pretty common. it may take a few times for them to get it right. Good luck

It's there.second spawn, the first time she stayed with the eggs but the male did not fertilize them. he is 10 inch and she is 6 inch, she has been up at the top of the corner just during there while the male is guarding the eggs, it has been 24he's and only a dozen are white the rest are still brown. I will keep you posted.

He has taken over, this is not uncommon. Bet if you removed him, she would take over, although you can't be sure.
He is just not letting her at this point.
He may lose interest and eat them, females are much more dedicated.

That's what it seems, he won't let her come down to the bottom, and he went from skiddish to in my face. That's pretty amazing, do you think because last time she eat.the.eggs so he is assuring they hatch lol

Could it be that he has taken over because there bond is not strong?

Both of those could be valid, or also could be a bit anthropomorphic. You might want to remove her, or she could become a casualty.
