I live in Australia and have and have kept Dovii for many years but only have access fish that were brought into Australia years ago (10-15+).
I know in the US you can get Nicaraguan and Costa Rican fish.
Can anyone ID my fish?
The male is 18 inches now and is a fantastic fish.

Wow hes a beauty!
Looks like a Nicaraguan, which are somewhat rare over here
Have you bred him before?, Give me some fry from him! :D

I haven't yet but he has his eye on my little female the problem is he is very aggressive towards other fish and she needs to gain some size and condition first.
I recently sold my smaller Dovii pair that were really stunning, maybe I should have kept them in hindsight.

i have to say nic. i was thinking costa rican at first just looking at the pic but the vid made me say nic. your flash just killed his color could be nic x CR too

Well GL with breeding him, If you do let me know!
Cause he is a stunner

Can anyone explain L0 and L1 Dovii??

You mean F0 and F1?
If so, It means that if its
F0: its wild caught
F1: wild caught (F0) parents
F2: f1 parents
F3: etc.

:D

Yes!! Sorry my bad, F0 and F1.
O.K. now I've got it, in Australia our Dovii must be F100+

Looks like a Nicaraguan Dovii to me. The Costa Rican race has a yellow base color with the greenish color in the fins. Here are a couplke of pics of the F0 Costarican pair I had. You can see the yellow base color witch is even more intense without the flash from the camera.
