Woo!!

I snapped this shot earlier today when I noticed my female laying her eggs... I only got the one photo as I didnt really want to spook them during this process, as this is the first time my Dovii have paired up!!

The next couple of weeks should be interesting :)

LOL I can see a fin in the pic... haha congrats and wecome to the nighmare of 2000 babys doviis , :D

hahaha

Lets just say im glad i starting building my breeding setup, i hope to have it done in a few weeks time.

But, i dont think i'll have anywhere near 2k, you'd need a crazy setup to raise that many fish. i'll be lucky to get 300-500 by the time they hatch..

Btw, got a fresh pic tonight before the lights went out.. Crap photo, but you get the idea.

awesome

Sweet dude! They look like they could be fertile but hard to tell. Hopefully their first attempt will be a success :D

Bad news..

Ive come home this arvo to find that 90% have been eaten :(

Im confused as to why this may be. Were they not fertilized enough and the female ate them?

Same thing happened with my old pair and they were fertile. From what I understand it sometimes takes them a few times to get it right. Hang in there and in a month or two you might get a new batch.

Is the female young?

It is her first time, they usally become better parents w/age.

They're roughly a year old, from what I have been told..

But maybe you could be right, they could very well be an inexperienced young pair and quite possibly this is their first attempt at reproduction in their lives

Thats cool!! Cannot wait to see free swimming D's!!
