After introducing the 5" dovii male, it paired up right away with one of the 6" female and she laid eggs in less than a week. Do you think these eggs will hatch? The pics are kinda blurry, but there are eggs on the petrified wood. I hope you guys could see them. They're not bothering the other 6" female right now, but should I move her out? The tank is a 135 gallon and they have plenty of room with a bunch of giant danios swimming on the surface.

Sometimes it takes a few tries for a pair to get it right, so don't be surprised if they disappear. They will get it right though eventually you can be sure of that.

If they aren't bothering the second female she will be stressed but you can leave her in if you need too. Make sure to keep an eye on the tank, if chasing or serious aggression starts pull her immediately. You could always give her to your friend asap, I believe you said you would as a trade if I remember correctly.

He picked her up today. He said what you said and told me they are definitely a pair. They are alright in the 135gallon for now, but I would need a bigger tank in about 6-8 months or an indoor pond.

Congrats on the pair. Smart move getting the other female out of there.

Sounds very cool so i guess ur gonna try to keep the fry if u get the indoor pond?

Looks like i'm losing the first batch. a quarter of the eggs are turning white and she is eating them. The others still look good and they are still guarding them, but i'm prepared to accept the loss if it happens.

I'm still looking at my options with upgrading to a bigger tank or pond, but i'm not rushing right now. The way the economy is, I better wait until I know for sure I could swing it.

Thanks everybody for your positive comments.
