How do I know when the male wants to mate with the female...like certain characteristics? He usually puffs his gills up and circles her doing a tail wag...does this mean he's ready to do the dirty?

does the female show any aggression back? if not there either pairing up or if you know there already a pair he may be getting aggressive because hes ready and shes not. my female jag was loaded with eggs but day after day went by and nothing and my male got mad as hell knocking the scales off her. low and behold they bred today.gizmo1417;1608132; said:
Oh wow that's interesting. She does show some aggression back and he will chase her around the tank for a little while but mostly tries to be next to her a lot of the time. Now they are together, cleared out the rocks from one of my decorations in the tank and are getting extremely aggressive towards the other fish in the tank and will not let them get any food. I guess this is a pretty good sign that they are mating or going to mate.
