Dovii...M or F? (vent shots included)

Ok..Costa Rican Dovii about 20 weeks old now, roughly 4 inches long TL, in a tank with a 6 inch Costa Rican female & a 6 inch Nicaraguan male (various other central american as well).

Ive had several posts over the past few weeks with pics of it and keep getting mixed results so I took as many clear shots of the vents as I could.

The pic of 2 is of the one in question and the female tankmate.

Is it a submissive male showing colors like a female to not get killed by the male Nic...I cant tell squat from the vents. What do you guys think? I have the pics extra large for closeups of the vent.

oh..and its feisty as hell and not scared to scrap with any fish in the tank!

at 4 inches mine had alot of black speckling on the sides of the fish. yours do not so i voted female.

Male 110%. I have a foot long male and a breeding pair and have had several growouts at 4". No doubt in my mind.

male 100% notice the dots on the dorsal and anal fins of the small male on the right compared to the female's on the left in pic 3. he looks good bro

hmm is this the one you posted before? i said i thought it was a female before because it had no freckling down its body. looking at it next to the definite female though in pic 3, i'd say male. also like THEMANCMT stated, the dots in the anal and dorsal fins suggest male also.

looks nice either way. grow it out to say 6" and you'll know 100%

Yes Cuban, its the same one.

Since now most of you think (or know) its a male, they must be submissive colors, because there is no speckling above the lateral line (except for the fins). Im removing the Nic and Female Costa Rican this weekend, so Im expecting him to change, from submissive colors, drastically after doing so.
