I forgot to mention, my friend gave back my other female about a month ago. She is now laying eggs, while the other one is taking care of her frys. The male is swimming with both gals. Has that happened to any of your fishes? The male is now almost as big as the girls, he was an inch shorter when I first introduced him. There are some dither fishes with them, so I guess that keeps aggression towards each other. I'm closely watching them, so I guess we'll see. They are about 7-8 inches long.

First things first, nice fish, and it is awesome that they even let this mix go at all....Obviously the nipped fins will turn into dead fish. Do you have more tanks? How big is the one they are in now (not stock policing, just stunned it is working).

thats awesome!! never ever seen this happen before! does the male interact much with the other female?
it looks like you have an ample sized tank for now but i believe this will not last long term. however even what's happening now shouldn't be happening so i guess you never know!!

thats real cool

Yes, this can happen given a large enough tank. I have read in an article in TFH:

Don't know how long this will continue though (space-wise), what happens if one female has spawned and the other one hasn't? Does the male see here as a threat to his brood?
