I've been planning a 300 gallon acrylic South American tank for a couple of years now. I've got the tank and stand drawn up in cad, a 60 gallon sump that I converted to a wet/dry system, new pump, and all the new valves and fittings. All I need to do now is to pull the trigger on the tank build. I've even decided on the builder.
The aquarium will be in my man cave/workshop in the lower level of my house with a walk out. The layout of the lot makes it perfect for a large drain out the wall that runs underground and 50 foot into the woods. This will allow a robust drip system. I've found that researching, planning, and designing is half the fun so I'm not really in a huge hurry. The coming winter may be a good time to start building the stand and kick off the tank build.
BUT
The more I read about Doviis (I'm on here several times a day EVERY day) the more I am intrigued.
If a person wanted a mated pair of Doviis how many juveniles should you start with?
Should you purchase the males and females from different vendors to eliminate the chance of siblings breading?
How do you know you have a strong bonded pair before you remove the rest? How long does that usually take?
Should a divider always be on hand even though the female may have a smaller place to hide?
Thanks!
