Dovii pharyngeal teeth

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All cichlids have this don't they?

The visible teeth of the dovii are for capturing/killing prey not for chewing food. The pharangeal teeth are for crushing food down to a digestable size

If you feed your fish hard pellets listen near the glass and often you will hear a crunching noise while the jaws are not moving at all. That is the pharangeal teeth at work

All fish have pharangeal teeth with the exception of cartilaginous species I.e. sharks, rays
