Hi i know this question has been asked a thousand times but i was wondering what kind of fish can i put in with a Male Dovii?

Currently i have it housed with a Xingu I Pike for over a year now so far they have lived well. They are both around 8 inches.

I was wondering what other fish can i put into the tank, it doesn't have to be a cichlid it can be any kind of fish. I've tried LMB i turned the lights off and went to work for 6 hours and both LMB where died they where 8 inches while the dovii was on 5 inches.

Thank You

Just out of curiousity what size tank are you keeping them in, what filtration, and water change schedule? A male dovii should be close to or over a foot long if you have had it for over a year.

really? a 30g with a sump and FX5?

cool. Well, at the point your at with him only having grown up with a pike, you will be lucky for him to allow anyone else to live in there.

I'm with you on this one. If it were me I would remove the pike and attempt adding a female. That is what I am doing in my 210. I have the female divided off with a few "love holes" for the female to get back and forth.

I have tried eggcrate to divide the tank. I had a female dovii but she lasted a week before the male managed to make to threw to the other side and killed her.

I was hoping to buy a lungfish or a catfish to see if he would allow another type of fish to live with it.
