I have a 5 inch male red devil with a 1 inch dovi. The devil has been in there for about 2 month and the dovii has been in there for about 2 weeks. The devil does not pay too much attention to him but will show the occational domintory red behavior. Im just wondering weather one day when the dovii grows his big fangs in is he just going the rip the devil's face off. would it be best if i removed the devil.

you could probably keep them together for a couple of months but eventually they're not going to get along unless you have a huge tank.

Hard to say which will win that battle. More than likely it will work for weeks months or more but one day you will find one of them dead. I would pick your favorite and find the other a new home

If your only going to upgrade to a 125 I'd keep the RD. A 125 isn't big enough for a Dovii if you plan on keeping it it's entire life, it is a good size for a RD however. Remember I'm not talking about the bare minimum required to keep the fish alive with twice a week 50% water changes, I'm talking about providing the quality of life nessary to give the fish a chance to grow to it's potential and live a long healthy life. Otherwise you'll be looking at one or possably two dead fish long term.

If you only have a 55 you might want to choose different fish. Salvini as an example pack big fish tude in a size sutable for a 55.

it may take along time for the dovii to get to full size but like the guy above said if you do intend on keeping it for its full life then the dovii will be anywhere from 16-20 inches and your 125 is 18 wide not giving it much turn room. ive got mine in a 75 gallon but i have a 180 gallon that it may eventually go into down the road. i just havent decided yet if im going to keep it long term. good luck with whatever fish you keep.
