Dovii Setup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
180 seems a bit small, but I've never had a pair of Dovii. Is a 180 gallon 72x24x24? Also a bit off topic but how fast do Dovii grow?

they do grow fast i bought a 2" fry and within a month and a half it got a inch and a half bigger so its basicly growing a inch a month

dovies are mean as hell, thats straight up! I'd like to see one pitted against uh umbi, a big male... umbi's are mean as hell! I'd say uh 240'd be aight...its long, pretty wide, decent height, and pretty thick also...I think it'd be tight to put a divider in that tank and have an umbi on one side and a dovi on the other then one day take out tha divider and watch that tank BUST!!... It'd be like.... BAM!!!

man that would be a sight.... I wonder who would win?.......dogg, if you do something like that, you betta make sure you get some snaps of that and let us know so we can put up a pole beforehand......geeah, tank busting big doggs!

tight...

Your gonna need a large tank, 240 being MINIMUM! Dovii get large as is stated, and have a lotta power in them...they didn't get the term as tank bustaz for no reason! Plus the aggression is gonna be crazy, so the larger the tank, the easier it will be for a female to get away from the male. You want a tank at least wide enough for the fish to be able to turn around with out hittin the sides.....so you may have to get around tank or a custom built tank...cuz yeah...Dovii DO get large.

As for the Umbi and Dovii...the Umbi is deeper bodied thus a little bit thicker, where as the Dovii is longer and more streamlined. Doviis mouth is also much larger and has teeth, so that is a large advantage right there. Umbi would be more manuverable probably though. So it really would be a toss up. I think if the Dovii could nail the Umbi from a good runnin distance hard enough it could seriously damage it and turn the tide....
