I was wondering if anyone knew how to sex a juvenile dovii around 2 inches. I haven't gotten one and know they need big tanks and are very aggressive fish. I really want a male as to me they seem to have the nicest of color between male and female.

Normally male dovii will start to show spots on their body on 3.5" or so, you will notice that their bar is much more broken up and they tend to be more colorful. Usually blues and greens are much more vibrant in males and females tend to be yellow/brown with little color other than their base color. The biggest are spots on the body and then the coloration on the male's gill plate is blue/green/purple. The elongation of the fins also starts to become more apparent. I think with dovii as juvies, size has little to do with it. They seem to grow relatively closely in speed, but if you compare them, males are easily distinguished.

Ok thanks for the info Oscar. I can't post pictures right now because I don't have a Dovii yet. My LFS has a bunch of Dovii juveniles and I just needed this info so I know which is Male and female.
