what can you do to speed up the process of growth for a male dovii?

many small meals a day does it i'm pretty sure.
my dovii grew about an inch and a half a month up until 9 inches, he was getting to big for me to quick so i put him in a buddies 240 gallon, and now he's doing pretty good.
he's gotta be about a foot now.
