Ok so i have my male dovii about 12" and my female about 7". I was wondering if i remove my female from the tank would it lower the agression of my male to were I might be able to add something else to my tank. I have seen some people that have been able to keep a dovii with some other species succesfully, and i was curious to see if that approach would help.

yeah i figure the more room the better chance. Right now he is being housed in a 135 and he's just a beast last time i tried just putting a pleco in there he acted like cujo right away.

Add some cover, rocks, ledges, pvc pipes. My dovi lives with 7 clown loaches and 2 plecos. He gets after them and they retreat into the cover. It can work.

Yep if your tank is big enough and you supply cover and/or obstacles for line of sight it can be done. If you block line of sight it will make things a lot safer for smaller/weaker fish

How big is your tank?

He stated it's a 135. So i'd say no tank mates and the Dovii alone will need a bigger tank real soon.

I agree.

If the fish isn't used to anything else than a mate, you can pretty much count on him eliminating anything you put in there now.

I agree also. I had my dovii pair in my community pair, but once I took everything else out b/c they had fry it all changed. Haven't been able to put them w/ anything else since. Once they're used to being alone forget about it.
