A few months ago I gave away my 12" Dovii as I was worried about it attacking my other fish. At the time they were only in a 5x2x2 grow out. I now have a 8x3x2 and an opportunity to have my Dovii back. Do you think there is a chance it could live with 2 x cichla ocellaris, 2 x Oscars a Synspillum, a flag tail a vulture cat and L330 in the new tank as I would love to have him back.

It will be a long shot if you have a male dovii,as those species wouldn't stand a chance if he attacked. but why not just put it solo in the smaller tank.

Dovii are nasty fish and I've never seen one live with fish like oscars or cichla. I've tried mine with amphilophus species which are known to be very aggressive and the dovii still would pick one fish and beat it into submission and all the other fish would have ripped up fish. It would be a serious gamble imo but you could try it

I doubt it will work if you have a typical dovii. At 12+ inches, they are pretty set in their ways and if didnt tolerate tankmates prior, most likely wont now.

You are half right. Dovii will or will not live with any tankmates. Its up to the individual specimen whether or not he will tolerate tankmates. Most of my stock has been together for five years, none less than three. There were a few others that came and went in favor of more Parachromis. Each individual dovii will have it's own individual personality.

In my case, he has his own spot and nobody bothers him or his house. He keeps other large adults away from his spot but will tolerate juvies around him. He roams the tank at his leisure. But there is no damage to tankmates. Its like he realizes he's king and so does everybody else.

The only murder occurred when I first added a pair of dovii (male from sig and a female) as sub-juvies at around 3" and 4". The female was very timid and took cover in a loiselli pair's fry's grazing area in some java moss. by the next morning the female dovii was missing a face.

I'm not saying its probable, but it is for sure possible.

give it a shot each fish has its own personality ect,
i had a dovii & jag cichlid in the same tank with others and those two went at it had to separate and give the dovii back
