Well I’ve ordered a dozen 2 inch dovii in the hopes I can get a pair. Today I moved my current fish out of my 370 gallon from glass cages. When they arrive should I raise them in there or in a cycled 75 gallon I have?

The reason I ask is because this is my first time with dovii, and from my research they are shy when young. My main concern is that I will be able to get food to such small fish in a large tank that size.

I'd be less concerned about them being able to find food and more concerned about trying to catch them back out of a 370 as they weed themselves out and you narrow it down to the 2 you want to keep.

I'd say put them in the 75 until you can try to ID a male and female, if aggression gets significant you can always adjust

That’s a great point. I kind of figured 2 would eventually pair off and I’d just remove the other ones. I guess your saying is they may try and kill each or her before that, and when I stick a net in there to catch the ones I don’t want all of them will change their color/go pale and scatter and it will be hard to know which ones I want to remove while in the act of catching them?

Just wanted to give a quick update. Feeding them was a non-issue. The first day they accepted krill and now they’re already begging for pellets every time i walk in the room.

All arrived well except for one that had all his fine torn to shreds. He was the prettiest one by far but fins didn’t look healthy so I actually took him out and he is by himself in a 75 gallon.

they’re about 2 inches long at the moment, maybe a tad bigger. But their definitely looks to be a mix of males and females

Glad you decided to out them in the 370. If you ever want to catch them as they grow and you thin their numbers, a good trick is lowering the water level down to a few inches and that makes them easy to catch. That’s what I do to remove fish from a heavily scaped tank.
Good luck on taking them. Start a journal. Would love to experience them through your posts.
