I have a 6 inch male dovii with a similarly sized ATF In a 300G . How long will I be able to keep this going? Any chances of it being a long term success?

Which one holds a special place in your heart? That's the one that can stay.

Well for now the dovii spends most of his at the bottom to mid level and the atf at top to middle level. Just concerned that it won’t last in the long run. It’s the dovii I want to keep if I had to pick

That's like putting a lion and a tiger in a cage together.
More like a wolf and a tiger (get it lol)…

I wouldn’t count on it working long term. Dovii don’t like sharing space, and it really isn’t enough for a tiger long term. If one challenges another, there will be bloodshed, and my money is on the tiger winning (bigger teeth).

I agree. Wolf fish are better fighters (at least among cichlid duels), however Tiger Fishes just have those huge teeth that can impale, Arowanas, wolf fish, and many other large sized fish.

I definitely don't think the tank is big enough for both of them long term. A standard 300 is 72 inches long, 48 inches wide and 24 inches tall and you have two fish in there that are notoriously aggressive. These very aggressive fish reach 24 inches (give or take some inches, different specimens reach different sizes) and come from different continents. I'm not sure how well the water parameters will match up and I definitely don't think the two will mix together. I have not kept either of them, but everything I have heard suggests it's not a good idea.
