I found a nice looking Dovii x Carpintis at a lfs thats about a foot long. I was wondering if the carpintis part of the fish will "stunt" the fishes size. Meaning it wont get as large as a normal Dovii. Any one owning this cross care to chime in? All input is welcome.

I didnt think of that but I really dont think they talk about anything else but Flowerhorns and Red texas. Thanx.

Better get this thread moved before your bashed and flamed!

I have never seen or heard of this cross. Post pics! I think I read someones thread about a carpintis x Jaguar hybrid that reached about adult(in an aquarium) jaguar size. I'd guess the size of a dovii or a little smaller. The sex of the parent fish is a big factor. A male jag X a female carpintis would look different than a male carpintis X female jag. Some traits come more from the female and some from the male. The only real way to tell is to grow it out you self.

I really doubt I would be "bashed & flamed" for having this thread in the CA/SA section. The worst someone will do it tell me to try in the hybrid section which has already happened. Or a mod actually moving it. But i think I would have more responses from this section anyhow. No pics. but for you guys who are close to NJ, take a ride to aquascapeonline.com's actual store and see for yourself. or ask him to provide a pic in the vendors section.

Heres a video from "Shark Aquarium". If you skip to 50 seconds in, theres a fish which looks very similar to the fish in question.

Hard to tell i would get it a big tank because it would should get at lest 16 inches. But probably 18-24 inches!!!
