He has really gone through some color changes. The Dovii is really showing these days. It's a pretty interesting combo.....what size is he now?

My guesstimate is 9 - 10" . He is definately more then 8" as he was measured at that legnth, last october, and has grown some since, but I won't know his exact length until I measure him again --- which probably won't be until some time in november or december.

I agree, he has taken on,at least somewhat, more of the apearance of a dovii, as he's matured. When he was younger, he had greater resemblence to juvie/young festae.

Nice! First time i've seen this cross

Wow, really nice hybrid! Too bad you lost some but at least you got to keep a really nice one. Good Job my friend

Thanks for the compliments, but it is potentially a very large fish, so I probably wouldn't have the space to house numerous specimens, anyways. Got the largest, what is likely the alpha male, from a batch so I am quite happy with that.

Yeah, I haven't seen any others on the internet, yet. Seen pics of festae X Jag (manaconda), dovii X another Parachromis and what might be Dovii X RD cross though I really haven't seen too many other dovii or festae crosses yet.

he looks completely different now

Yes, it's changed quite a bit, and I would think it would change some more as it matures. A lot of hybrids go through some real dramatic changes as they grow. Genes are like light switches; they get turned on or off according to conditions or enviroment, and a hybird fish is carrying a mix of genes.
