What do you guys think the minimum tank size is to keep a dovii with tankmates. Other fish would be other aggresive fish like a jag, a Silver aro, a oscar, and a pacu temporarily. Also the other fish would already be adults, dovii would be last to be put in the tank.

putting a dovii in with those fish is just asking for trouble. i would say 180g minimum (for just dovii), but some will outgrow even that.

Personally I believe you will need around 700-1000g to be successful long term(for life). I am contemplating keeping a male dovii with my other stock in the 800g once complete. I can honestly say I am still hesitant to add it to the mix though.

Yes a big tank indeed. Especially if you plan to keep a pacu. damn pacu's get huge.

Thanks everyone. It will be a few years till i would be able to upgrade to a 700+ gallon tank, so i wont be getting a dovii to put with my other fish. How about the tank size for a single dovii.

Your dovi is the least of your worries, that pacu is the deal breaker.

YEah that pacu will outgrow that tank and dovii really fast. Their growth rate is incredible. They eat anything and everything. But for a single dovii you can get away with a 150 for now.

I USUALLY JUST GET THEM ALL WHEN THERE SMALL AND LET THEM GROW OUT. I HAVE 4 DOVII, 2 MOTAGUENSIS, 4 JAGS AND 1 LOSELLI ALL IN ONE 55 AND THEY ALL GET ALONG GREAT BUT THERE STILL UNDER 3 IN SO I DONT KNOW IF THEYL GET MORE AGRESSIVE WHEN THEY GET BIGGER

IMO Dovii need larger than a 6' tank. I would think a 220G(72"x24"30) would be min. Only reason I say this, My buddy kept a 19" Dovii in a 150 and it looked so miserable.
