at what size does a male dovii usually start turning blue and speckle?

they will begin to show blue in their upper and lower dorsal as soon as 2" in some cases but the facial spangles usually hit around 4+ inches which also around that time you will be able to tell if its male or female..........

Another tell tale sign of a male Dovii is the lack of a solid horizontal stripe as it gets bigger. Females keep a very dark stripe males loose theirs

yeah in most cases the male gets a large hump...but the stripes are a sure sign..
