Dovii

So iv been told a few times to stay away from dovii's

but I really cant find anything eles I want, I have a 180 gallon tank 6X2X2 im gonna get a small jag and dovii, and maybe a pair on black convicts.

I understand I'll need to upgrade in a year or so, but is there any other reasons why people keep telling me to avoid this fish?

Money is not a probably once I get out of my apartment and buy my house I plan on getting atleast a 240gallon. 8x2x2

Just want some opinions and to hear what you guys have to say!

180 is a great starter tank for a dovii and can easily last 3-4 years or so. No worries there

Don't put a dovii in the same tank as a jag. Parachromis are very aggressive toward each other. A 2 year old dovii will be around 20 inches if fed good.

hey you can keep a lone dovii in a 180 no problem if you get a female dovii with a male jag or male dovvi with a female jag you would be fine i have seen a 20''+ in a 90 with a female and they were spawning and everything so a 180 is great for a pair but not 2 males

Everyone iv talked to said most dovii don't get 20 inches in captivity, well its rare, and the ones that have been 18 plus inches are like 5 years old,

and what would be a good tank mate for a dovii, I thought if you start them off young together theres a good chance they can live in peace given a big enough tank etc

yes they will breed and you end up with with a pretty cool hybrid
