OK, here is the deal. I found a 5" female Dovii at a LFS for $25, first of all...is that a good deal? second, I have a 300 gallon tank with a silver arowana (11") an albino channel cat (10") a pictus (7") and a red oscar (10") am i asking for trouble if i introduce a Dovii into my tank? will there be enough room for all of the fish, and if not what would you recomend putting in that naked looking water box:)?

Not a bad deal on the Dovi I've seen them more expensive but I think your tank is big enough but I think the dovi will end up killing all your fish... Dovi's are arguebly the meanst fish out there... You might want to put some fish that might be able to stand up to it like a Budda or a Red Devil something that is just as agressive...

That is a pretty good retail price for a Dovii of that size. Seeing as how the Dovii is a female and will more then likely not exceed 13-14" I would give it a shot of being able to inhabit your tank with your current fish. Only problem I see would be the pictus cat since Dovii like to keep to the bottom of the tank and pictus cat do not get to big. Female Dovii are much more docile then males and are mixed in community settings on a regular basis.

I feel pretty confident this would work out. I have had a female dovii for probably close to two years now grown from 1". She is about 8 " now but I haven't noticed any growth in months and months. I also have a male dovii who I've grown from about 3 " He is about to pass her in size and have only had him for 6 months. He is definately the agressor in a community tank we have set up. The female does not seem to bother anyone and she is in with midas, texas, red devil, gt, pike, etc. In my experience female dovii are way more laid back. The male however is a killer.. literally..

I would say go for it. That dovii would look awesome in your tank. It is either that or a fat ass jag. Superiority will work itself out in your tank. Just make sure that everyone is well fed.

in my experiences of all the dovii i have had
the males don't start to show aggression till about 6 inch or over
i would be concerned about the channel cat thinking it's a meal.
or the oscar getting grumpy. if it is in fact a female the are alot more docile
any gl on anything you do.
