dude, this would be most excellent. i would love to have something like this. i will definitely look into this. i think a phone/plan like this along with a tablet will be something that will save me about $100 a month and i will still have the same abilities (phone, text and portable internet)

I actually work for AT&T so I can shed some light on the data thing.

By swapping the sims, you'll escape the data for a little while but we'll eventually add it for you. Every call or text sends your phones identity to us and we do audits based on that info. Where the phone came from or your contract status with us has no bearing on it, it will get added sooner or later. Once it's on it's not coming off until you bring us a non smartphone to use, put it back in the iPhone and it'll back on even faster. Sorry man, but your mom is gonna have a data plan soon.

As far as phones go, I couldn't use anything but my iPhone. Ever. Every other phone seems to have some blaring oversight or major issue that would make it unusable as far as I'm concerned. Id have to make my expense cuts elsewhere...

i will mike, thanks

What company are you looking at- or is that up for choice too?

i'm currently with verizon, i switched from at&t because verizon has a better coverage area. i used to have low signals while at work in my office as well as at certain people's homes. but with verizon i hardly ever had an issue as far as low signals. i may end up staying with verizon because of that

If you stick with Verizon check out the Casio line of phones. My girl's phone is a Casio and they are amazing for durability. She has it for work, and they had to be "work approved" so they boiled one, ran it over with multiple trucks and forklifts, threw it across a parking lot - you get the idea. The phone kept working just fine.

Sprint and Verizon share quite a bit of line between the two, might be another option. We have Sprint for our personal cell because we can't find any cheaper share plans.

Ok so I'm sticking to verizon since my wife gets a 20% discount plus all other carriers' plans pretty much cost the same. Dropping the data.

And I picked up the new transformer prime which is I believe one of the newest tablets and is awesome and I'm typing this with the android app

Nope, sorry, this was and imo still is the best phone ever made (Ericsson 337)... damn thing was indestructible... i remember dropping it down a full flight of stairs (3 times), dropping it while running across the road where everything that could come apart did (1 time), drop it in the sink and let it dry out (1 time), and use it in a fight (3 - 4 times) as well as dropped it a numerous amount of times and it still worked perfectly... well maybe the antenna was a little loose but nothing major...

Try doing that with one of the newer phones today and see how long they last...

Kudos. I'd love to carve the cost of our two smartphones out of the budget, but I just can't go back. We really use the data. What I really don't like is paying for wifi and wireless.

Well that was 15 years ago when i was still a teen... Im much more responsible these days... That was just to demonstrate how tough that phone was...

But i must say, after that model, all the phones started to get flimsy... Allthe flip phones and the star tac V
