I know that this might be better answered in the filtration section, but since my filter is unconnected right now I need faster answers than that section provides.

Anyways. So I have an fx5, and it doesn't fit under the tank...I wanted to put it under a little table next to the tank, but if I were to put it there the hosing would have a downward slant, like this...

Fluval says not to do that. But I'm wondering why? Is it not really a big deal(like how they say the filter "needs" to be under the tank), or am I going to need to find a taller table-thing to put over it so that it doesn't have the downward slope?

You want to avoid a downward loop so that air won't become trapped in that section of the hosing. I would get a taller table!

build something out of wood will some drilled holes perfect for the hosing. i would. and hide it somehow with something nice of your choice...
