Has anybody ordered fish off of Dr. Fosters and Smith before. If so are they a good place to get fish from, and what was your experience with them like?

i can tell u that i have a catalog and i have seen sum of there prices, and my lfs store has better deals.

like dr place sells regular africans for 6-7$

lfs buy1 get1 so 2-3$ea

dont 4get the shipping and stuff

I know shipping and stuff. Their Pbass are the same price as what my LFS sells them, it is just that they won't ever get any in or haven't lately and I am running out of patcience, so I am thinking about getting some for them. Just wanted to know peoples experience before I go ahead and order.

if you're planning to buy live fish i would say your lfs has a better price. but the difference is their 14 day guarantee. you just need to decide on it.

if you're talking about product not live fish, i order a lot online because online fish stores are much cheaper on products.:) never had any problem with their service.

The ghost shrimp were the only things that I have considered.

ther ghost shrimp are freakin xpensive.

i juss checked again and that crap is 1.09 ea lol

my lfs sells them for 10 cents ea

i wouldn't get fish from them as their shipping is out the ass, but i do order A LOT of my supplies from them. i have had no problems. i even made a return once and everything went smoothly.

i have made a few orders from drs f and s before, but only for products not live animals...
just make sure to check prices (sometimes lowest, sometimes not) usually ok, but if having a question about somthing, don't ask them, cause the people on the phone or email are dumb****s...
example...
thought about switching to bio 3 filters for my penguins....
was gonna buy 2 lare packs to fit all my filters for a little while
lady says only 1 clam shell per package whether you buy big or small package...ok... so I order 4 small to get 4 clamshells, with fewer filters for a lil more money than the large...
when it arrives.. boom 2 shells per box... wtf do I need 8 clamshells for? call them up. they charge me the shipping to return...then give me store credit.. cost of shipping them back almost equals amount that refund would be... will be quite some time before I order from them again....
big als online is where I'll be.....
plus I was gonna order a blue knight lobster from them.... now temporarully going on 6 months unailable... with no idea when it will again....

ive purchased livestock from them, and though pricey, the packing job and the condition of the fish was outstanding. both fish i purchased from them are still alive and well. i am very limited on what the local LFS here can order and i would spend just as much on gas as i would on shipping to drive somewhere to buy the fish i want. good luck on what you decide.

I use Foster and Smith for all of my water conditioners, filter media and supplies, food, etc... Never had any problems. I place an order about once every three months, and get about $90 worth of stuff. Would likely cost twice that at any of the lfs in my area.
